Position: Machine Technician
Position Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
•    Cut and machine metal test specimens for as specified for testing
•    Use various machines to cut test coupons for machining (vertical/horizontal band saws and abrasive wheel machine)

•    Use various manual and CNC equipment to machine test specimens from rough cut bars
•    Machining technology and process expert (CNC programming and maintenance)
•    Read prints and follow written instructions
•    Maintain sample identification on all testing samples and scrap
•    Handle Red jobs
•    Keep and maintain clean workstations
•    Routine equipment maintenance and upkeep of maintenance log
•    Administer special testing needs and customer witness projects
•    Develop solid working relationships within the company
•    In lab managers absence, manager scheduling and day-to-day production and/or sample issue/problems
•    Assist in training co-workers in specialized processes and procedures
•    Identify process flow or production issues and needs and help conclude resolution with Lab manager

•    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel and bend.
•    The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 60 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100+ pounds. Anything over the 50 pound limit, lifting device and hoist is required.
•    Machining.  Samples weight approx 40-60 lbs each.  Lifting the samples to the saw table to cut to lab specifications.  Then cut sample (approx 5-7 lbs.) is removed from the saw and placed in a CNC to complete the machining process.
•    CNC operation requires setting the sample piece which requires lifting, bending and pushing/pulling.
•    Machine Shop Technician is required to stand during the shift.  Anti-fatigue mats are located at every workstation and machine.
•    Reading, writing, arithmetic and mathematics, including right angle trigonometry
•    Ability to read mechanical drawings, prints as they apply to the machining process.
•    Proficient with digital and dial caliper, outside and inside micrometer, basic tool sets, and gages.
Familiar with mechanical make up of machine tools and measuring devices.
